Listed Buildings
A recent revision of the statutory list of buildings of special architectural or historic merit has resulted in a total of 84 listed buildings within the Conservation Area. Five of these are category 'A' buildings featuring Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's first ever house, 'The Knowe' in Albert Drive and two of his later villas in Nithsdale Road. Pollokshields Burgh Hall and Lodge House is also a Category 'A' listing. Almost all the remaining listings relate to the wide range of villas in the area. Listed buildings are subject to special planning controls and owners should check with the Planning Department if considering any works which could affect the character of the property. |
